Optimal flow in a reeftank
It doesn’t matter how many streamers you use ,there will always remain dead spots in the tank, where there will be detritus deposition. Eventually the streamers will work against eachother.
The answer is, to use timers to switch them at random intervals.
A reef aquarium need at least 3 streamers to generate good alternating flow for the corals to flourish.
- Use quality streamers which can withstand repeatedly on/off switching otherwise they will wear out very quickly.
- Be creative with timing to suit your need and scaping.
- The use of oversized streamers allows you tune down the capacity and reduce noise.
