DSR-EZ quickstart procedure:
(for reef tanks without structural problems)
First walk through the “high nutrients topic”!
- Install power filter (remove as much detritus as possible from sandbed)
- Install and calibrate auto dosing units.
- Always place the outflux higher than the EZ bottles, to prevent overdosing by syphoning.
- Place outflux above water and use oneway valves to prevent liquid from flowing back into the bottle.
- measure KH, Ca, Mg, PO4,NO3 to get insight of your parameters and start baseline dosing when neccesary.
- use these testkits and the DSR reference to verify them.
- Start the baseline dosing for EZCarbon (mentioned on container)
- Start the baseline dosing for EZBuffer (mentioned on container)
- Start the baseline dosing for EZCalcium (mentioned on container)
- Start the baseline dosing for EZTrace (50% of EZCalcium dosing)
- Do (bi)weekly measurements and top up if necessary.
- Finetine dosing to keep parameter steady
When starting DSR on a system with very high PO4/NO3 make sure to siphon the sandbed, use a powerfilter and walk through the above mentioned high nutrients topic to prevent bacteria bloom.
